inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The National Police's (Polri) Food Task Force requested that cooking oil producers maintain their production and speed up the distribution to prevent shortages in the community.
The Chief of the Food Task Force of Polri, Inspector General Helmy Santika said that the scarcity of cooking oil in Indonesia that occurred some time ago was due to distribution delays and due to business actors reducing their production and distribution.
"The scarcity of cooking oil is also due to panic buying and hoarding in quantities above the average monthly requirement. The cooking oil is then resold by resellers or speculators at higher prices," explained the Chief of Food Task Force, Saturday (19/19/2020). 3/22).
Inspector General Helmy Santika also said that Polri would continue to monitor the conditions on the field to avoid shortages. "The Food Task Force continues to carry out monitoring in the field to find out the challenge of the distribution," stated the Food Task Force.
The Two-Star General also said that Polri supported the abolition of the highest retail price (HET) for packaged cooking oil. He ensured that Polri will always support government policies in ensuring the stock and maintaining food price stability.
"Polri supports the government in efforts in maintaining food supply stability, both in price, availability, and distribution through cooperation with policymakers and other stakeholders to discuss and find the root causes," stated the Head of the Food Task Force.
Moreover, the Head of the Food Task Force stated that Polri would back up security and supervision so that the policy could run well and would take action against the perpetrators who caused a shortage of cooking oil.
