Inp.polri.go.id – Surabaya. Head Commissioner of Public Information Commission (KIP), Donny Yoesgiantoro says the openness of public information could support the security sector stability and public involvement.

“Because, we are in an era where war is not only through military power, but also through information. Intelligence is important in war. They played an important role in every step of their move,” said Donny during the Public Relations Working Meeting 2024 on Tuesday (23/4/24).

Chief Donny says that every person has the right to receive information and use it as it should. It was mentioned in the KIP Law Number 14 of 2018.

However, Donny reminds that not all information can be shared to the public. There are three pieces of information that are prohibited to be shared to the public, which are state confidence, private confidence, and business confidence.

On the other hand, in the technological era, there are many challenges posed by information openness. For example, the information that clashed with local culture.
