Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said it had no involvement in the now-cancelled plan to offer a 50% electricity tariff discount for June–July 2025.

“Our ministry was not part of any team or forum discussing this policy. Since the initiative and cancellation did not come from us, we fully respect the authority of the institutions that issued and revoked it,” said Energy Ministry spokesperson Dwi Anggia on Monday (2/6/2025), as wuoted by antaranews.com.

She confirmed that ESDM was neither invited nor requested to provide input during the policy’s formulation. Although the ministry oversees the electricity sector, it was not consulted on this proposed discount, initially intended for 79.3 million low-power household users.

The plan, announced earlier by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, was later scrapped due to budgeting constraints. Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani said the funds would instead be redirected to the Wage Subsidy Assistance (BSU) program, which is deemed more ready for execution.
