inp.polri.go.id - Banjar Baru. The Ministry of Public Works continues the Phase II of the national People's School (Sekolah Rakyat) construction after the completion of Phase I. The continuation was marked by a groundbreaking ceremony at the Banjarbaru People's School, South Kalimantan, on Monday (1/12/2026).

Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo, stated that the continuation of People’s School construction represents a continuation of the government's commitment to expanding access to quality education. 

"Thank you for the hard work of all parties for the completion of People’s School Phase I. With this, now we will advance to the construction of Phase II," he said.

In his statement, he targeted completion of Phase II SR construction by June 2026, so that it could be used in time for the new academic year. He stated that this construction must be carried out on time while maintaining building quality.

The construction of People’s Schools in the Phase II will be built in 104 locations across 102 regencies/cities. Construction will be spread across 32 provinces, with a budget of IDR 26.24 trillion from the 2025–2026 State Budget.

The Director General of Strategic Infrastructure, Bisma Staniarto, stated that technical standards are being applied comprehensively to this development. 

"All Phase II Public Schools are being built with attention to safety, health, comfort, and ease of access," said Bisma.

Each public school will be built on a minimum of five hectares of land and equipped with integrated educational facilities such as classrooms and laboratories. In addition, it will include a library, dormitory, kitchen, canteen, place of worship, school health unit, sports facilities, and green open spaces.

The Ministry of Public Works will continue to oversee the implementation of Phase II Public Schools construction, along with relevant ministries and institutions. This oversight will ensure that all stages proceed according to plan and on time.
