Inp.polri.go.id - Batam. Minister of Agrarian Spatial Planning and National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), Hadi Tjahjanto, has introduced a significant development for residents of Rempang Island who are voluntarily relocating to make room for the Rempang Eco-City project. This development involves granting them land ownership certificates (SHM) through a simplified transition process.
"We can immediately provide the certificate while construction is ongoing," he stated following his participation in a coordination meeting aimed at expediting the Rempang Eco City project's development. The meeting took place in Batam, Riau Islands, on Sunday, September 17, 2023.
Minister Hadi said that the certificates would be issued once the land and buildings are prepared at the designated relocation site and construction is underway, noting that the land management rights (HPL) for the new relocation site in Dapur 3 Sijantung, Galang District, Batam City, are in the final stages of being transferred.
These certificates, as explained by Minister Hadi, signify ownership rights, similar to those issued at 37 locations in Kampung Lama, Batam. This means they cannot be bought or sold to ensure that the land remains under the ownership of the residents who have relocated from Rempang Island.
The relocation site is fully equipped to accommodate new residents, with each family receiving 500 square meters of land and a type 45 house, which has a total area of 45 square meters and is valued at approximately IDR 120 million.
Minister of Investment and Head of Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Bahlil Lahadalia, emphasized the government's unwavering commitment to this decision, regardless of potential changes in leadership. He urged residents to have confidence in the legal basis for this initiative.
Regarding the construction timeline, the initial phase of relocation housing is anticipated to take around 6 to 7 months to complete. This suggests that residents of Rempang Island can expect to receive their new homes in approximately two years.
