inp.polri.go.id - Indramayu. The Bandung Search and Rescue (SAR) Office is searching for two students from the Indramayu State Polytechnic who went missing after being swept away by the current during a whitewater rafting activity at the Karet Bangkir Dam in Indramayu, West Java.
The Head of the Bandung SAR Office, Ade Dian Permana, stated that a rescue team from the Cirebon SAR Post was dispatched to the scene at 12:30 p.m. after receiving a report of the incident.
"Upon receiving the report, we immediately dispatched a rescue team from the Cirebon SAR Post to conduct the search," he said, as reported by Antaranews, Saturday (11/8/2025).
He explained that based on information received, the incident began when seven students from the Indramayu State Polytechnic were whitewater rafting from the Legok Dam to the Karet Bangkir Dam.
While at the dam, he said, the rubber boat they were riding in was struck by the river current, causing five students to fall into the water, while the other two remained in the boat.
"Students from the Indramayu State Polytechnic were rafting from the Legok Dam. While at the Karet Bangkir Dam, their boat was swept away by the river current," he explained.
He further stated that of the five students who fell, three managed to escape, while the other two were swept away by the current.
Ade also stated that officers in the field were continuing to search the river and the area around the Karet Bangkir Dam to locate the two students.
As of Saturday afternoon, the search operation was still ongoing, with a joint SAR team remaining on standby to locate the two students missing in the disaster.
