inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Riau Malay Customary Institution (LAMR) has requested that Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo act as a spokesperson for President Prabowo Subianto.

LAM Riau has requested that the Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief express his gratitude for the eradication of illegal oil palm plantations in Riau Province. This was conveyed by the General Chairperson of the LAM Riau Executive Board (DPH), Datuk Seri H Taufik Ikram Jamil.

Initially, Taufik Ikram stated that his organization fully supports the government's policy of eradicating illegal oil palm plantations in Riau Province.

"The Riau Customary Institution strongly supports this program, which is governed by Presidential Regulation Number 5 of 2025. However, we also hope that indigenous communities and the Tembatan will regain their cultural and formal legal rights to the land," said Datuk Seri.

He explained that the Riau Customary Institution has been voicing this concern for a long time.

"The aforementioned issue has actually been raised for a long time, for decades, Sir. The Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) have even found that there are over 1 million hectares of illegal plantations in Riau," he explained.

However, he continued, it was only during Prabowo's presidency that the crackdown on illegal palm oil plantations was implemented. The DPH Chairman stated that the Riau LAM had actually wanted to express its gratitude directly to the president for this policy, but had not yet been able to.

"If it's not presumptuous of us, perhaps the Chief of Police could express our gratitude to the president," the DPH Chairman hoped.
