Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Human Rights has deployed a team to investigate the forced disbandment of a Christian student retreat by local residents in Sukabumi, West Java.
"Any form of intimidation or violence disrupting religious practice is a clear violation of human rights and cannot be justified," said Minister of Human Rights Natalius Pigai on Monday (30/6/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The retreat, held in a private residence in Kampung Tangkil on 27 June 2025, was reportedly stopped by locals who alleged the house was being used as an unlicensed place of worship. The incident, widely circulated on social media, prompted concerns over religious freedom violations.
Minister Natalius emphasized that Indonesia’s constitution guarantees every citizen the right to worship according to their faith. He urged local police to act firmly against the perpetrators and ensure legal accountability.
