inp.polri.go.id - Gorontalo. In an effort to preserve the coastal environment and marine ecosystem, the Gorontalo Regional Police's Water and Air Directorate plants 1,000 mangrove seedlings with coastal communities in Torosiaje Village, Popayato District, Friday (10/10/2025).

The planting of thousands of mangrove seedlings is a concrete manifestation of the Indonesian National Police (INP)'s concern for nature conservation, as well as part of the INP Cares for the Environment program.

On that occasion, the Director of the Gorontalo Regional Police's Water and Air Directorate, Senior Superintendent Wiyogo Pamungkas, said that the existence of mangrove forests has an important role in maintaining coastal ecosystems.

"Not only protects from abrasion, Mangroves also serve as homes for various marine biota and natural carbon absorbers that are very beneficial for environmental balance," he said.

He further emphasized that his party is not only focused on securing water areas but also has a moral responsibility to preserve marine natural resources.

This activity is expected to set an example and encourage the community to continue caring for the surrounding environment.

People who participated in the activity appeared enthusiastic. They appreciated the steps taken by the police to directly engage with the community, as activities such as this not only benefit the environment but also strengthen the relationship between the police and coastal communities.

By planting 1,000 mangrove seedlings, the Gorontalo Regional Police's Water Police Directorate hopes to raise collective awareness of the importance of preserving the sea and coast for the future of future generations.
