inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu'ti, revealed that there are at least six non-technical skills, or soft skills, that Indonesian children must master to prepare for a bright future.

"First is critical thinking, then communication skills, collaboration skills, and skills related to high creativity," said the Minister Abdul Mu’ti on Wednesday (7/23/2025). The Minister added that the other two skills are character and citizenship.

He believes these six non-technical skills can be applied to various situations. Therefore, the Minister encourages all secondary school students in Indonesia to deepen these skills while they are young.

"Leadership and creativity are skills that are currently highly needed in various sectors. Those who succeed are those with strong character, because the world of work requires those with integrity, honesty, collaboration skills, and the creativity to design something new," explained the Minister.

He explained that not everything can be taught in schools due to limited time, resources, and funding. However, he emphasized that the spirit of learning enables everyone to overcome all limitations.

"The spirit of progress encourages us to never give up, and that is the key to progress," said the Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education.

In an effort to shape a bright future, the Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education encourages all students in Indonesia to adopt the seven habits of great Indonesian children, which include waking up early, performing religious services, being active in sports, consuming healthy and nutritious food, enjoying learning, caring for the community, and getting enough sleep.

"Not everything will be taught in school, not everything can be learned in school, but everything can be learned in school and outside of it. Be a lifelong learner," said the Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education.
