South Sumatra Regional Police Chief Inspector General Sandi Nugroho led the second-quarter operational evaluation meeting at the Pagar Alam Police Headquarters on Thursday (30/7/2026). During the meeting, he instructed unit commanders across the region to visit villages directly to hear public concerns and preserve regional security.

Emphasizing proactive field operations, Inspector General Sandi ordered personnel to shift their approach, particularly regarding forest and land fire mitigation ahead of the dry season.

"Do not invite the public to the police station; instead, police chiefs and precinct heads must go out to patrol the villages," Chief Sandi said. "Gather village heads and reactivate the Fire-Aware Community spirit."

Riau Police leadership highlighted several community initiatives, including food security programs, infrastructure projects, and the Belida environmental cleanup. Riau Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Nandang Mu’min Wijaya added that transparent public communications must accompany all field activities to ensure accountability.
