inp.polri.go.id – Palembang. The police managed to thwart an attempt to smuggle 60 boxes containing lobster seeds in South Sumatra. The lobster seed has been estimated to have a value of around IDR 27 billion. Vice Director of Water and Air Police Unit of South Sumatra Police, AKBP Zahrul Bawadi, said hundreds of thousands of seeds were secured by the police after receiving reports from the public regarding lobster seed smuggling in Bunga Karang Waters, Banyuasin, Tuesday, (27/07/22). “In following up the information from the public, joint forces of Corps of Water and Air Police of the National Police, Water and Air Police of South Sumatra Police, and the personnel of the Police Ship KP Anis Macan 3009 conducted an immediate investigation to the location,” stated AKBP Zahrul Bawadi, Tuesday (7/26). From the results of examination, the police found 60 boxes of styrofoam containing lobster seeds. The police also confiscated a river boat as evidence. Meanwhile, the Chief of Water and Air Police Law Enforcement Unit of South Sumatra Police, AKBP Erwin Irawa stated that after the initial investigation, the boat was then transferred to the Water and Air Police of South Sumatra Police HQ for further examination. Police also still searched the owners and why the lobster seed was smuggled. “The suspects is still being examined. For the evidence, we have secured 60 box of styrofoam containing 265,400 of sand lobsters and 8,470 of pearl lobsters,” stressed the South Sumatra Police Middle Officer. AKBP Erwin Irawa revealed that this smuggling of lobster seeds could cause state loss of more than Rp27,810,500,000.
