inp.polri.go.id - Palembang. The South Sumatra Regional Police Drug Criminal Investigation Directorate issued their success in uncovering drug cases in the past six months.

The Director of Drug Criminal Investigation Directorate, Senior Superintendent Dolifar Manurung says that compared to the previous year at the same period, there are increases in 2024, both in case uncovering and suspects arrested.

“In the first semester of 2024, our unit uncovered 851 cases with 1,025 suspects arrested, higher compared to 808 cases and 1,101 suspects arrested back in 2023,” said Dolifar on Monday (8/5/2024).

From the drugs seized by the police such as methamphetamine, weed, and ecstasy, he explains that the number is also far more significant than the previous year.

“For this year, the total weight of methamphetamine we secured is 179,331.09 grams, far higher than the previous year of only 35,602.29 grams. Then, for the weed seized this year, we have secured a total of 126,062.72 grams, higher than the previous 115,755.97 grams. And for the ecstasy we secured this year, we have seized a total of 170,585 ecstasy pills, a significant increase from the previous 6,087,” reveals Dolifar.

He reminds the public to avoid the illicit items at all cost and instructs his personnel to continue hunting the drug smugglers to the roots.
