JAKARTA | Indonesian National Police Chief General Idham Azis reminded that since March 2020 the Covid-19 pandemic has plagued almost all over the world, there have been 215 countries affected by the virus originating from China. It is recorded that 53 million people worldwide have tested positive and 1.3 million have died due to Covid-19. Until November 13, 2020, said Idham, in Indonesia 34 Provinces and 503 Regencies / Cities were hit by the Covid-19 pandemic. Data per November 13 shows, 457,735 people infected and 15,037 people who died. For this reason, Idham emphasized that the National Police referred to the Salus Populi Suprema Lex Esto, meaning that people's safety was the highest law. Since Indonesia was hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, the National Police has issued two announcements. The first is March 19, 2020 regarding compliance with government policies in handling the spread of Covid-19 and then second, the announcement of the Chief of Police on September 21, 2020 regarding compliance with health protocols in the implementation of the 2020 simultaneous regional elections which will be held on December 9, 2020. "Therefore I urge in the current atmosphere of the Covid-19 pandemic that all parties adhere to health protocols by always wearing masks, maintaining a safe distance from other people, washing hands with soap, and avoiding crowds," said Idham from the Headquarters of the Republic of Police. Because, continued Idham, by implementing health protocols, he could save himself and everyone in Indonesia. "Fellow colleagues, only with discipline in complying with health protocols, we will avoid the Covid-19 pandemic. That is my advice, I hope Allah will always provide protection and safety to the Indonesian people in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic," said Idham.
