Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Cesium-137 Task Force announced it has relocated 975 tons of radioactive-contaminated material from the Modern Cikande Industrial Estate in Serang, Banten, as authorities race to complete all decontamination work by the end of November.
“To date, 975 tons of Cesium-137–contaminated material have been transferred to temporary storage at PT PMT. We expect the entire decontamination process to finish by late November,” said Rasio Ridho Sani, the Deputy for Pollution and Environmental Damage Control at the Ministry of Environment, on Saturday (15/11/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
He reported significant progress, noting that contaminated factory facilities have been fully decontaminated and have resumed operations. Several “Red Zones”, including areas A, C1, D, H, and I, have been declared safe by the National Nuclear Agency (Bapeten) and the National Research Agency (BRIN). Other sites remain under cementing and containment procedures using high-grade concrete.
In South Lampung, Bapeten confirmed that Cesium-137 exposure levels in three cemented locations in Penengahan District have dropped to below 0.5 microsievert per hour, with continuous monitoring underway to ensure public safety.
