Inp.polri.go.id - Serang. Twelve junior high school students in Kibin, Serang Regency, Banten, were placed under police guidance after being found to have purchased synthetic tobacco through Instagram.
The case was uncovered when officers discovered suspicious material at one of the schools.
“The Instagram account is registered in Cilegon City,” said Cikande Police Office Chief Assistant Senior Inspector Tatang on Saturday (15/11/2025), explaining that the students admitted to jointly purchasing the narcotics through an account named Story Jane.
The transaction was completed entirely online, with payments made digitally and the package collected using a mapping system, as reported by antaranews.com.
Police said the students retrieved the synthetic tobacco from a drop point in Ciwandan, Cilegon, which is a method commonly used by dealers to avoid face-to-face contact.
Following the discovery, Cikande Police coordinated with the school and parents, opting for early intervention. The 12 students are undergoing a week-long religious and mental guidance program to strengthen discipline and awareness. The school also issued final written warnings and stressed that any repeat violation would result in immediate expulsion
