inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra said that Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto's visit to the Land of the White Elephant marked a new era for strategic cooperation between the two countries as major ASEAN powers.
"As founding countries of ASEAN and major economies in ASEAN, we will work together to strengthen ASEAN, especially in the face of geopolitical conditions and global uncertainty," said PM Paetongtarn after a bilateral meeting in Bangkok, Monday (5/19/2025).
PM Paetongtarn warmly welcomed Prabowo Subianto's first official visit as Indonesian President to Thailand, which she called a historic moment in diplomatic relations between the two countries.
According to PM Paetongtarn, President Prabowo's visit today reaffirmed the close friendship and marked the celebration of 75 years of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Indonesia.
More than a commemorative ceremony, the meeting resulted in concrete achievements in the form of the establishment of a government-to-government strategic partnership designed as a framework for long-term cooperation in various crucial sectors.
The framework for cooperation ranges from political and security issues, eradicating human trafficking and illegal gambling to strengthening trade, investment and tourism relations.
According to PM Paetongtarn, the meeting also marked the launch of regular Indonesian and Thai leaders' consultations as a new diplomatic mechanism that will strengthen communication between heads of government in the future.
PM Paetongtarn considered this forum as a strategic foundation for strengthening Southeast Asian solidarity.
