inp.polri.go.id - jakarta. The First Lady of Indonesia, Iriana, symbolically handed over humanitarian aid to the Central Hospital of Endocrine Science and Surgery, Endocrine Organ and Tissue Transplantation of Ukraine in Kyiv City, Wednesday, June 29, 2022.
The aid was given when President Jokowi and Mrs. Iriana visited a hospital in downtown Kyiv, after visiting the Lipky Apartment in Irpin City.
"Earlier, Jokowi and I gave a little assistance to a hospital affected by this war," said Mrs. Iriana after handing over the aid.
Hospitals in Ukrainian cities are frequently targeted by Russian missiles. When asked about her impression of accompanying her husband on his visit to Ukraine, Mrs. Iriana hoped that the war would end soon.
"With Bismillah, I am here accompanying my husband. I hope this war will end soon because I am very concerned and terrified after seeing all this chaos," said Mrs. Iriana Jokowi.
Other than giving humanitarian aids to the hospital, the Indonesian government also provided assistance to the Ukrainian Red Cross and was committed to reconstructing the war-damaged hospital.
"In addition to the assistance given symbolically by the First Lady, the Indonesian government also provides assistance through the Ukrainian Red Cross and is also committed to helping reconstruct hospitals damaged by this war," said Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi in her statement.
After visiting Ukraine, President Jokowi and his entourage are scheduled to arrive in Moscow, Russia, on Thursday (30/06/22) to meet President Vladimir Putin after meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
