The Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection aims to push the victim and the perpetrator of bullying in Batam City to still able to go to school. “The children who bullied and who got bullied in fact were not able to go to school. And for that, other than ensuring that victim is accompanied during the examination, and mental condition examination, we also push for them to continue in attending the school,” said the Deputy of the Child Special Protection, Nahar on Monday (3/4/2024). Nahar says that education is the rights for every children, although they are being involved in cases, either as a victim or the suspect. In resolving the case, Regional Technical Implementation Unit for the Protection of Women and Children (UPTD PPA) of Batam City have coordinated with Balerang Sub-regional City Police and has reach out to the victim. Batam City UPTD PPA will also conduct social assessment and will scheduled psychological treatment for the victim. “The Team of Sapa 129 will continue to coordinate with UPTD PPA in accompanying and providing service to the victim,” said Nahar. Previously, there was a viral video of bullying in social media where two girls initialed SR (17) and ER (14) are the victims. The bullying reportedly occurred in Wednesday (2/28/2024). The girls suffered injuries on their hands, neck, head, face, and back. Following the investigation of the case, police have arrested four suspects initialed NU (18), RSS (14), M (15), and AK (14).
