inp.polri.go.id - The Samapta Unit (Sat Samapta) of the Tulang Bawang Police, carried out dialogical patrols to cattle farms in their area. This dialogical patrol took place in Cakat Hamlet, Menggala Village, East Menggala District, Tulang Bawang Regency.
"Yesterday afternoon, our officers carried out a dialogical patrol to the cattle farm in Cakat Hamlet, Menggala Village," explained the Head of Samapta Unit of the Tulang Bawang Police. Friday (15/07/22).
The purpose of this dialogical patrol is to anticipate an outbreak of mouth and nail disease (FMD) that attacks livestock, including cattle, buffalo, and goats.
Head of Samapta Unit stated that in their patrols, they have inspected five cows and all of them are in good health, and none of them contracted mouth and nail disease (FMD).
"We appeal to the farmers to be diligent in controlling the health of their animals. If you find any symptoms of mouth and nail disease (FMD), you can immediately contact the nearest veterinarian," said the Head of Samapta Unit of the Tulang Bawang Police.
He adds that the symptoms of FMD can be seen from the health condition of the animals. Usually the animals contracted by FMD showed some symptoms such as fever as high as 41 degrees Celsius and above.
Other than fever, the animals might also seem tired and there are some blisters in the mouth, gums, nose, and nostrils, as well as excessive salivation (hypervillation).
