inp.polri.go.id - West Manggarai. The Labuan Bajo Joint Maritime Search and Rescue Team continues to intensively search for the last missing victim of the sinking of the KLM Putri Sakinah. Entering its 14th day, the search in several waters within Komodo National Park (TNK) has yet to yield results as of Thursday (1/8/2026).

The search began at 6:00 a.m., sweeping the waters of Serai Island, Padar Island, and Komodo Island, on the west, east, south, and north sides. 

The Head of Public Relations of the NTT Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Henry Novika Chandra, explained that the search involved a large-scale effort across maritime agencies, demonstrating the country's commitment to humanitarian efforts.

"The joint SAR team, consisting of the Indonesian National Police (INP), Basarnas (National Search and Rescue Agency), the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL), the Coast Guard (KPLP), the Harbor Master, and navigation and health personnel, continues to search the sea surface according to the operation plan. However, as of the 14th day, the search results have remained unaccounted for," said Henry

Several main equipment (alut) were also deployed, including the Basarnas RIB (River Boat), the NTT Regional Police's Water and Air Police Unit RIB, the KP Ibis RIB from the INP Headquarters , the Labuan Bajo Naval Base's RIB (KN SAR Punta Dewa), and the KN Grantin (KPLP).

"The search was conducted from morning to evening, dividing the search into sectors, including the location where the last victim was found and the location where the shipwreck was found," explained Henry.
