inp.polri.go.id - East Nusa Tenggara. The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police says a total of 5 cases of Destructive Fishing and Human Trafficking (TPPO) Crimeshave been uncovered over the past six months.
The five cases consist of 2 explosives (Handak) crimes and 3 fisheries crimes.
"4 cases have been completed, and a case is under the investigation process that has been transferred to the Marine and Air Corps of Indonesian National Police (INP) Security Maintenance Agency," said NTT Regional Police Marine and Air Director, Senior Superintendent Irwan Deffi Nasution, Thursday (6/12/2025).
He further stated that routine patrol activities are continuously held in waters prone to Destructive Fishing. Socialization and education also carried out to the community and fishermen. In addition, the police continue to coordinate with related agencies to foster fishermen groups in maintaining marine sustainability.
Irwan explained that in the same six months, 6 TPPO cases have been successfully uncovered.
"The number of suspects in this TPPO case has reached 13 people. They mostly lured their victims with high salaries while working abroad," he explained.
In his remarks, Irwan hopes that people would be more aware with the offer of working abroad and if they find any indication of TPPO crimes, people are expected to immediately report it to the police.
