Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi issued a strict mandate on Thursday (9/4/2026), warning domestic airlines that any fare increases must remain within the government-mandated ceiling of 13 percent to protect consumers from surging travel costs.

"We have established a fixed adjustment range of 9 to 13 percent. Airlines have no justification to exceed this limit given the extensive stimulus packages provided by the state,"he said during a media briefing reported by antaranews.com.

The government has implemented several strategic measures to offset rising operational costs for carriers, including a state-borne Value Added Tax (VAT) policy and exemptions on aircraft spare part duties. While the "fuel surcharge" component was allowed to rise to 38 percent to accommodate global oil price volatility, the Ministry emphasized that these subsidies are designed to stabilize ticket prices for economy-class passengers. While business class fares remain unregulated, the Ministrywill conduct rigorous monitoring of all commercial routes to ensure compliance and maintain public purchasing power amid regional energy uncertainties.
