Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A joint operation by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police led to the arrest of four people on Thursday night (9/4/2026) for allegedly posing as anti-graft officials to extort members of the House of Representatives (DPR).
"The suspects were arrested in West Jakarta along with $17,400 in cash, which was seized as evidence during the operation," said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo on Friday (10/3/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
The suspects reportedly claimed to be envoys of KPK leadership with the authority to "settle" ongoing corruption cases in exchange for significant payments. Following the arrests, the individuals were transferred to the Metro Jaya Police for further interrogation regarding multiple reported extortion attempts.
The KPK has urged all government institutions and the public to remain vigilant against such criminal ruses, emphasizing that official personnel are strictly prohibited from soliciting rewards and must always carry valid identification. Indonesians are encouraged to verify official activity via the 198 call center, as the commission maintains that it never employs third-party consultants or regional branch offices to manage its legal proceedings.
