Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Transportation projects more than 5.05 million air passengers will travel during the 2025/2026 Christmas and New Year holiday period, covering both domestic and international flights.
The projection was released on Sunday (14/12/2025) in Jakarta by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation as part of peak-season preparedness.
“We project total passenger movement during the Christmas–New Year period will reach 5,050,194 passengers, consisting of domestic and international flights,” said Achmad Setiyo Prabowo, the Secretary of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, as cited by antaranews.com
The figure includes 3.89 million domestic and 1.15 million international passengers, reflecting a modest increase compared to last year. The busiest domestic routes are expected to involve Jakarta, Denpasar, Surabaya, Medan, and Balikpapan, while international demand will concentrate on Singapore and Kuala Lumpur routes.
Of 568 registered aircraft, only 368 are currently operational. To maintain ticket affordability, the government has introduced tax incentives, fuel surcharge discounts, airport fee reductions, and extended operating hours across 257 airports.
