inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Vice Health Minister Dante Saksono Harbuwono calls the public to not worry about the Human metapneumovirus (HMPV).
“There is HMPV in Indonesia, but you do not have to worry as this disease has existed since 2001,” says Dante on Friday (1/17/2025).
He says that HMPV patients can be treated and fully recovered in just three to five days, although similar instances cannot be the same for the vulnerable groups.
Such as HMPV cases on children, elderly, or those who have low immunity such as Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) patients, the disease can be fatal.
However, in general HMPV is not a serious threat and the government will not implement any special treatment such as those for the Covid-19.
“So people can rest easy in facing the HMPV. What is important is that people would still implement a healthy lifestyle by continuing keeping themselves clean,” conclude Dante.
