inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Chairman of the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) Ubaidillah emphasized the importance of broadcast media presenting a positive image of the Police through accurate and educational broadcasts.
In a panel discussion of the 2025 Indonesian National Police Public Relations Technical Working Meeting, in Jakarta, Wednesday (5/7/2025), he emphasized that the KPI has the task and authority to supervise television and radio broadcasting institutions based on Law Number 32 of 2002.
The KPI also actively monitors all broadcast programs, including broadcasts featuring the police institution.
"Police programs broadcast on TV need to be presented in an informative, educational manner, and not deviate from the reality of police duties," said Ubaidillah in his statement, quoted by Antaranews.
He highlighted several television programs that previously collaborated with the police, such as Program 86 which used to air on NET TV, but is no longer airing.
In addition, there is also the program The Police on Trans7 which is still running until now. He revealed that this kind of program is the subject of academic study, including dissertation research being conducted by a police officer.
Ubaidillah also highlighted the importance of accuracy in the display of police attributes and positions in soap operas and drama programs. He considered that mistakes in the use of police costumes on television could lead to public misunderstanding of the Police institution.
At the end of his presentation, Ubaidillah invited all Public Relations and broadcasting personnel to continue to synergize in conveying positive narratives about the police to the public.
