inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Vice Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Fauzan, emphasized the importance of close collaboration between universities and business and industrial sectors to cut the number of unemployment in Indonesia.

"Universities can participate in solving this problem by providing Job Training Institutions (LPK) that play a role in upskilling and reskilling," said Fauzan in his statement on Monday (7/7/2025).

He explained that existing LPKs can also be attended by students and the general public to gain relevant skills in the workforce.

On the other hand, Fauzan assessed that a number of study programs at Indonesian universities are still quite generic.

"To adapt to the needs of the workforce, college graduates need to develop more specific skills," he said.

According to him, curriculum adjustments and the opening of relevant study programs can be one way to increase graduates' competitiveness.

Fauzan stated that improvements such as certification programs and competency specifications, as well as penta helix collaboration, have the potential to address the competency gap in college graduates, thus reducing unemployment in the long term.

"I invite all stakeholders to work together to support the production of graduates who are adaptive, competent, and ready to compete in the era of economic transformation," said the Vice Minister of Education and Science and Technology.
