inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Manpower emphasized the important role of universities in developing human resources (HR) and national employment.
The Manpower Ministry Secretary General Cris Kuntadi stated that universities play a crucial role in supporting the transformation of the national workforce by strengthening research, innovation, and developing talent that adapts to changes in the world of work.
"Collaboration between the government, universities, and industry is key to preparing superior human resources who are adaptive, competent, and ready to face the challenges of the future," said Kuntadi on Tuesday (5/19/2026).
As one concrete step, the Ministry of Manpower has established a partnership in the field of HR development with Padjadjaran University (Unpad) in Bandung.
Kuntadi stated that this collaboration is a strategic step to strengthen the connection between education and industry needs amidst changes in the job market influenced by technological developments and digital transformation.
"Cross-sector synergy is important so that university graduates have competencies that align with the needs of the business world and industry," said Kuntadi.
Furthermore, this collaboration is also aimed at fostering a link and match between higher education curricula and job market needs, thereby gradually narrowing the competency gap among graduates.
"This collaboration is expected to integrate education, training, and the world of work, ensuring graduates possess relevant competencies and greater competitiveness," said Kuntadi.
Furthermore, the cooperation between the Ministry of Manpower and Padjadjaran University also includes strengthening vocational training by integrating the Ministry's training programs with Unpad's academic capacity, study centers, and research and innovation.
Kuntadi also emphasized the Ministry of Manpower's commitment to expanding access to workforce competency development through the transformation of digital-based employment services, SIAPKerja, and strengthening vocational training centers that are responsive to industry developments.
According to him, these efforts are expected to open wider access for the younger generation to obtain training, competency certification, and job opportunities that are in line with current labor market needs.
