Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Indonesian Vice President Ma’ruf Amin considers the theme raised in presidential and vice-presidential debate to be important for the wide public. “Yes, definitely. People has to know, to know that (vice-presidential candidates) either know the issue or not,” says VP Ma’ruf Amin on Wednesday (12/6/2023). The statement came following the adjustment of vice-presidential debate during the 2024 General Election campaign. “In last year, there were three debate formats which are presidential and vice-presidential debate, presidential debate, and vice-presidential debate,” recalls Ma’ruf Amin. However, in 2024, KPU announced that the vice-presidential debate would also present the presidential candidate to accompany their partners. Regarding topics for election debates, Ma’ruf Amin states that it is not part of his authority to decide, but KPU. “I think it would be KPU who will decide which issues are really our concern in future development," he explained. On Wednesday (12/6/2023), KPU has completed the technical discussions for the 2024 presidential election debate. (ad/ndt/pr/nm)
