inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The 10th and 12th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla, assessed that the occurrence of wars caused the world economy to decline, including Indonesia.
"The world today is full of turmoil and it also affects our country," said JK, his nickname, when delivering a scientific oration at the graduation of the National University (Unas), Sunday (6/15/2025).
JK stated that the wars that occurred in a number of countries, such as between Russia-Ukraine, Israel-Gaza, and Israel-Iran, had an impact on the world crisis.
As part of this world life, Indonesia of course also felt the crisis. In fact, apart from foreign problems, Indonesia also faced domestic problems.
"Domestically, the price due to this war, all our products have decreased such as minerals, coal, nickel, and copper. All have decreased," he said.
The decrease in price, continued JK, automatically had an impact on reducing state revenues in the form of taxes.
If the country lacks taxes, the government will implement efficiency which will also impact other aspects.
"Efficiency is basically reducing development, infrastructure, and so on," he said.
