Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. THe Ministry of Trade said declining global demand amid rising supply has caused crude palm oil (CPO) reference prices to weaken for January 2026, affecting export levies and duties.

“Higher production, especially from Malaysia, was not matched by stronger demand, compounded by the ringgit’s appreciation against the US dollar,” said Acting Director General of Foreign Trade Tommy Andana in an official statement, as reported by antaranews.com on Thursday (1/1/2026.

The ministry set the January 2026 CPO reference price at USD 915.64 per metric ton, down 1.13 percent from USD 926.14 per metric ton in December 2025. The figure was calculated using median prices from Indonesian and Malaysian CPO exchanges, in line with Trade Minister Regulation No. 35/2025.

Based on the new reference price, the government imposed an export duty of USD 74 per metric ton and an export levy of 10 percent, or USD 91.56 per metric ton, for the January period. The policy aims to balance market stability and state revenue amid fluctuating global palm oil conditions.
