Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Trade reported that global oversupply has pushed down cocoa bean prices for January 2026, reflecting higher production in major producing countries without a corresponding rise in demand.
“Cocoa supply increased as production improved in key West African producing countries, supported by better weather, while demand remained stagnant,” said Acting Director General of Foreign Trade Tommy Andana as reported by antaranews.com on Thursday (1/1/2026).
The ministry set the January 2026 cocoa bean reference price at USD 5,662.38 per metric ton, down 5.27 percent from the previous month. The export benchmark price also fell to USD 5,296 per metric ton, a 5.49 percent decline month on month.
The adjustment was made by the Ministry of Trade in Jakarta on Thursday as part of its monthly review of export reference and benchmark prices. The policy aims to reflect current global market conditions and ensure fair export pricing.
The updated prices are stipulated under Trade Minister Decree No. 2392/2025, effective from 1 to 31 January 2026.
