inp.polri.go.id - The West Java Police Special Crimes Unit managed to secure a truck carrying 20 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) which was smuggled in Patokbeusi, Subang Regency, West Java, Thursday (14/072/22).
"Furthermore, the police also secured an LPG gas businessman with the initials TA (42 years old) who was arrested during the raid," explained the West Java Police Special Crimes Unit Director, Commissioner of Police, Arif Rachman, Thursday (14/07/22).
The disclosures of this case started from community reports.
Police officers then carried out an investigation in the area and finally caught a bulk transport truck belonging to PT ER with Nopol B 9154 UWX carrying 20 tons of subsidized LPG.
In addition, the police also found a device that able to move gas from large cylinders to small cylinders. In that place, he added, the police also found 60 tubes with a capacity of 50 kg.
"This gas will be sent to West Jakarta on the order of someone who is still being chased by the police. In a day, the suspect can send as many as 60 canisters with a capacity of 50 kilograms," explained the Intermediate Officer of the West Java Police.
The suspect is charged with Law No. 35 of 2001 concerning Oil and Gas which has been amended to Law No. 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation and/or Article 62 of Law No. 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection.
"By disclosing this case, the police managed to thwart the state’s loss around Rp11 billion in one month," concluded the West Java Police Special Crimes Unit.
