Inp.polri.go.id - Bandung. The West Java Regional Police have tightened security at churches following the discovery of an object resembling a bomb outside the Simalungun Protestant Christian Church in Kosambi, Bandung, ahead of Christmas services in a bid to ensure the safety of worshippers during the holiday season.
“Each church is secured by at least 10 officers to conduct area sterilisation, with additional officers deployed at security posts,” said West Java Police Chief of Operations Senior Superintendent La Ode Aries El Fathar on Saturday (20/12/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com
The incident occurred on Friday morning and was reported by local residents, prompting an immediate response from the bomb disposal unit. Although the object was later confirmed to contain wooden pieces and cables with no explosives, police intensified security as a precaution under Operation Lilin Lodaya 2025.
Sterilisation is carried out before congregants enter churches, involving bomb disposal teams and local police units. Officers are also stationed at entrances to conduct checks using metal detectors and monitor crowd movement until services conclude.
Police stressed that heightened security remains necessary despite the absence of a direct threat, reflecting their commitment to maintaining public safety.
