West Java Regional Police Bust Two Online Gambling Promoters from Cambodia

inp.polri.go.id - Bandung. The West Java Regional Police Cyber Criminal ​​Investigation Directorate has arrested two suspects with the initials A and JH who are linked to an international online gambling site from Cambodia.

The Director of the Cyber ​Criminal ​Investigation Directorate, Senior Superintendent Resza Ramadianshah, said that the disclosure of online gambling was based on reports from the public who discovered the case.

"So regarding the Cambodian network, we found that the passport of JH has a departure stamp from Cambodia and he worked in Cambodia in 2022," said Resza in Bandung, Tuesday (5/20/2025).

According to Resza, JH acted as a marketer or promoter of the online gambling site with the task of disseminating information about the site via social media and monitoring the development and activity of the site.

"While working in Cambodia, JH was also listed as a telemarketing supervisor at an online gambling service provider company. After returning to Indonesia in 2023, he continued his activities online," he said.

He said that JH earned a profit of between IDR 10 million and IDR 50 million per month from promotions and the activities of gamblers who made deposits on the site.

Meanwhile, he explained that suspect A acted as a collector of bank accounts used as a place to store online gamblers' deposit funds.

The police also managed to confiscate a number of savings books from various banks as evidence during the arrest.

For their actions, the two perpetrators were charged with Article 27 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 45 paragraph (2) of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 of 2004 concerning the Second Amendment to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions, in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) ke-1 of the Criminal Code.

"The two suspects are threatened with a maximum prison sentence of 10 years," he said.
