Inp.polri.go.id - Manokwari. The West Papua Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Daniel TM Silitonga, has instructed his subordinates to investigate and seize homemade firearms , locally known as senpi rakitan, circulating among local communities. "Around 40 homemade firearms have been sold by the suspects. I have ordered all units to search for and confiscate them," he said on Monday (23/10/23). The West Papua Police Chief suspected that the sale of the firearms by the six suspects aimed at groups opposingIndonesia. "It is not impossible that these firearms might have reached those opposing groups, such as in Maybrat or other areas," he asserted. The Manokwari Sub-regional Police has confiscated 12 homemade firearms, which, according to Chief Daniel, preliminary examinations have revealed that the firearms were assembled using a specific technique, not a conventional one. The case has been under further investigation to identify the technicians who taught the six suspects how to assemble firearms for trade. (mg/ay/pr/nm)
