"I have ordered the personnel in Sorong Raya area to handle the fuel mafia," said the West Papua Police Chief, Tuesday (02/08/22).
According to the Two-Star General, the Sorong City and Sorong Regency areas have been brought under control and even arrested several suspects related to the distribution of subsidized fuel.
The phenomenon of long queues of two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles in Sorong City and Sorong Regency lining up to fill subsidized fuel at gas stations, he continued, must be brought under control immediately. This is because the fuel subsidy must be allocated to the right target.
"So if its not on the right target, then the government program will not succeed. Therefore, we police officers must monitor how the distribution of fuel at all times," explained Inspector General Daniel Tahi Monang Silitonga.
In order to regulate the distribution of subsidized fuel at gas stations, especially in the Sorong area, the 1990 Akabri graduate emphasized that there must be a strengthening in police regarding the distribution of subsidized fuel.
"I have ordered the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation to take actions and if necessary legal action against people who abuse the facilities provided by the government," concluded the Two-Star General.
