West Papua Police Identified Seven Suspects of Fuel Abuse

inp.polri.go.id – The West Papua Regional Police have named seven people in Manokwari Regency as suspects in a case of subsidized fuel oil (BBM) type Bio Solar abuse. West Papua Police Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Adam Erwindi said the determination of the suspect was carried out after they have secured two pieces of evidence of the case. "Seven suspects have been detained at the West Papua Regional Police detention center for further legal proceedings," explained the Head of Public Relations of the West Papua Police. Police Commissioner Adam Erwindi explained that the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of West Papua said that they have carried out monitor their activity for one week and managed to arrest the suspects last Saturday while they were filling up the fuel at one of the gas stations in Manokwari Regency. "They have various ways in carrying out their criminal activity, such as queuing for every day, using fake plate number, intentionally changing the color of the plates from red to black, to modifying fuel tanks. The goal is to resell them to get more profit," said the Intermediate Officer of the West Papua Regional Police. The Head of Public Relations of the West Papua Police confirmed that they had examined the witnesses, ranging from vehicle owners, gas station managers, Pertamina employees in the Manokwari area, to expert witnesses from BPH Migas before the investigation stage was escalated to investigation. The seven suspects have the initials of RS, FA, AM, ME, MUI, MNR, and RH. "They were charged with Article 40 point 9 of Law No. 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation for the amendment of Article 55 of Law No. 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Gas which carries a maximum penalty of six years in prison and a maximum fine of Rp60 billion," he concluded.
