Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Indonesia’s U-17 national football team suffered a 1-3 defeat to Zambia in their Group H opening match at the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup, held at Aspire Zone Field 7, Doha, Qatar, on Tuesday local time (4/11/2025). 

Zahaby Gholy gave Indonesia an early lead in the 12th minute, but Zambia turned the game around with two goals from Abel Nyirongo and another from Lukonde Mwale, according to antaranews.com.

“Our players showed good spirit and created several chances, but Zambia were more clinical in finishing,” Indonesia’s coach Nova Arianto said after the match. “We’ll use this experience to improve in the next game.”

The result leaves Indonesia third in Group H with no points, while Zambia sit second with three points. Despite showing promise through efforts from Lucas Lee and Mierza Firjatullah, Indonesia failed to convert key opportunities, including a late strike from Rafi Rasyiq that hit the post.
