inp.polri.go.id - Semarang. The Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas), checked the supply and prices of various staple foods at Bandarjo Market in Semarang Regency, Central Java.
During the visit, the minister interacted with several traders and buyers before distributing rice from the Food Supply and Price Stabilization (SPHP) program.
After the visit, Zulhas stated that the prices of various staple foods had begun to decline. He noted that the price of staple foods in Central Java has always been positive.
"Prices have dropped since New Year’s Eve," he said, Sunday (1/11/2026).
He further cited the example of chili peppers, which previously reached IDR 50,000 per kg, now dropping to IDR 35,000.
He also noted that the price of chicken, which previously ranged from IDR 38,000 to IDR 40,000 per kg, has dropped to IDR 35,000 per kg.
He also mentioned that the relatively controlled prices of various staple foods during the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year holidays are a good opportunity to prepare for Ramadan.
"Christmas and New Year's are no problem, and we'll be ready for Ramadan. The current price drop is proof of that," he explained.
