inp.polri.go.id - Merauke. A total of 103 personnel of Merauke Sub-regional Police were deployed to secure the Easter Torch Parade in Merauke City on Sunday evening, (4/20/2025).
The torch parade is a religious tradition of the Christians in Merauke which is held every year to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Merauke Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Leonardo Yoga has assigned 103 personnel to ensure the safety of the parade which is going from Saint Joseph Church to the Merauke Cathedral Church.
On the other hand, the Ops Chief of Merauke Sub-regional Police, Police Assistant Superintendent Jerry Koagouw explains that all personnel have been stationed at strategic locations to anticipate public disorder.
“We hope that public activities, including the Easter Torch Parade, continue to go smoothly and orderly,” concludes Jerry.
Leonardo also added that the Merauke Sub-regional Police Chief guarantees full security during the series of Easter religious activities, and invites the entire community to work together to keep Merauke City safe and peaceful.
