A total of 1,117 Indonesian Military (TNI) soldiers officially earned the status of Peacekeepers after receiving the United Nations blue beret during the closing ceremony of Pre-Deployment Training (PDT) at the TNI Peacekeeping Mission Center (PMPP) in Sentul, Bogor, West Java, Tuesday (20/5/2025).
The United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) Jakarta said in a statement that the blue beret symbolizes the readiness of troops to deploy under the UN flag for global peacekeeping missions.
The soldiers, part of the Garuda Contingent (Konga) MONUSCO and Military Observers/Staff Officers for 2025, completed a month-long intensive training led by Colonel Infantry Fardhin Wardana and opened by PMPP Commander Major General Taufik Budi Santoso, as reported by antaranews.com.
Training covered conflict dynamics in mission areas like the Democratic Republic of Congo, involving armed groups such as CODECO and M23.
