Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Manpower reported that layoffs have reached 26,455 cases as of Tuesday (20/5/2025).

“Central Java has the highest number, followed by Jakarta and Riau. The sectors affected are manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade, and services,” said Indah Anggoro Putri, the Director General of Industrial Relations and Social Security at the Ministry, as quoted by antaranews.com,

Compared to the same period last year, layoffs have increased. Central Java recorded the highest number with 10,695 layoffs, followed by Jakarta with 6,279 cases and Riau with 3,570 cases.

The sectors most affected include manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade, and services. However, the ministry has yet to investigate the specific causes behind this trend.

Director General Indah assured that the data comes from valid regional labor offices’ reports and is not manipulated, as reported by antaranews.com.

Separately, the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) reported 73,992 layoffs between 1 January  and 10 March 2025, based on BPJS Ketenagakerjaan membership data.
