Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Immigration and Corrections Agus Andrianto announced that 44 Confucian inmates have been granted Special Remissions and Sentence Reductions to coincide with the 2026 Lunar New Year. 

Among the recipients, 43 adults received reductions ranging from 15 days to two months, while one juvenile inmate received a 15-day reduction.

“The state offers this respect to those who have demonstrated positive behavioral changes during their rehabilitation process,” Minister Agus said on Tuesday (17/2/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.

The Ministry said that remissions are awarded objectively based on strict administrative and substantive requirements. Beyond rewarding good conduct, the policy serves as a strategic tool to manage overcrowding in correctional facilities and detention centers. 

Director General of Corrections Mashudi added that this move also saved the state Rp 25,447,500 in inmate catering costs, highlighting the administrative efficiency of the rehabilitation-focused justice system.
