Inp.polri.go.id - New York. Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono arrived in New York for a three-day diplomatic mission from 16 to 18 February 2026 to address the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) regarding the situation in the Middle East and the Palestinian question.
In his official statement on Tuesday (18/2/2026), he emphasized Indonesia’s active role in peace negotiations and the humanitarian reconstruction of Gaza. A key highlight of the visit is Indonesia’s participation in the Donald Trump’s initiated- Board of Peace (BoP) for Gaza.
"Our involvement in the BoP is a concrete manifestation of Indonesia’s free and active foreign policy in supporting a just and sustainable two-state solution," the Foreign Ministry said in a written statement published by antaranews.com.
Beyond the UNSC forum, Minister Sugiono is scheduled to meet with the UN Secretary-General and the Permanent Observer of Palestine to discuss strategic steps toward regional peace.
He will also use this platform to personally deliver invitations for the D-8 Summit, set to take place in Jakarta this April. The mission concludes with a high-level meeting with the UK Foreign Secretary, who currently holds the UNSC Presidency for February 2026.
