inp.polri.go.id - The video of the burning of the Indonesian flag that has been circulating on social media since a few days ago has been monitored by the Aceh Police. Currently, the origins and perpetrators of the video are being investigated. "We are still investigating the perpetrators, and the location of the burning of the Red and White flag in the video that circulated. However, it is strongly suspected that the location is in Aceh," explained the Head of Public Relations of the Aceh Police, Commissioner Winardy. He explained that the video of the burning of the Red and White flag was first uploaded by a Facebook account allegedly belonging to NU (53) on August 17, 2022, at 13:57 WIB. NU is known to be a resident of Pidie, Aceh, who received political asylum from UNHCR and is domiciled in Horsens, Denmark. He is also a member of the Aceh Sumatra National Liberation Front (ASNLF). The video was then re-uploaded by a Facebook account allegedly belonging to TD (25), on August 17, 2022 at 16:25 WIB. TD is from Pidie Jaya who is also a former drug convict. "We are still investigating the Facebook account owner who upload the video of the burning of the red and white flag and the extent of his involvement in the flag burning case," he explained. If the violation is proven to be true, the perpetrator will be charged with Article 28 paragraph (2) of the ITE Law, because it is considered that he intentionally spreads information aimed at causing hatred or hostility to certain individuals and or groups of people based on ethnicity, religion, race, and between groups (SARA). In addition, the Head of Public Relations of the Aceh Police appealed to the public to use social media wisely and not to be easily swayed by informations in the internet.
