The Leuser Ecosystem Area (KEL) has been recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage because of its uniqueness and extraordinary biodiversity wealth.
"Leuser is the last stronghold for endemic species such as the Sumatran orangutan, Sumatran rhinoceros, and elephants, and tigers. It is the lungs of our country, the life support of millions of people, and a symbol of ecological balance that we must maintain together," he said.
He added that this expedition was not just a nature exploration activity, but also a symbol of collective commitment to preserving world heritage for a sustainable future.
Furthermore, Chief Kartiko said that this expedition also aims to strengthen the spirit of nationalism. The raising of the Red and White Flag at the peak of Leuser will be a strong symbol that the spirit of love for the homeland and the spirit of nationalism continues to burn in the hearts of every member of the police and the community.
This expedition involved personnel from the Aceh Regional Police, green movement activists from communities and various universities, community leaders, and professional guides from the Leuser area. Collaboration between the police and the community is key to building collective awareness to protect the environment.
The Aceh Regional Police Chief also advised all participants to maintain personal and team safety, uphold the spirit of togetherness, and always care for and respect nature. According to him, every step in Leuser is a form of devotion to the nation, and every footprint is a form of commitment to protecting the earth for future generations.
