Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman maintained strategic collaboration with the Indonesian National Police (INP) to boost corn self-sufficiency and national food security.
“It is the INP’s strong commitment to food sovereignty,” he said during a corn planting event with INP Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo in Grobogan, Central Java, on Wednesday (9/7/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
The joint planting covered 74 hectares within social forestry lands, part of a broader 207-hectare project. Key corn varieties included NK Perkasa, Pioner 27 Gajah, and Bisi 2, with yield potentials of 9.7 tons per hectares.
Minister Amran highlighted corn’s importance for food, feed, energy, and farmer income. In 2024, Indonesia harvested over 15 million tons; Central Java contributed 2.43 million.
Production from January–July 2025 rose 9.2% year-on-year, driven by irrigation, mechanization, and security force support.
The INP also distributed agricultural tools and committed to supporting the entire farming process, including post-harvest logistics.
The House of Representatives (DPR) Commission IV Chair Titiek Soeharto emphasized national unity and said Indonesia’s fertile land must reduce food imports.
