Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Army Chief of Staff General Agus Subiyanto led a ceremony for election security troops and declared the 2024 Peaceful Election at Monas, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (8/11/23).
"Kodam Jaya (Jayakarta Military Regional Command) and Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police held the 2024 Peaceful Election Declaration in Jakarta to maintain security stability before, during, and after the 2024 election, aiming to realize a dignified democracy and abide by all relevant rules and provisions," the General stated.
He urged all components of the nation and societal elements to collaborate in fostering a safe, conducive, and peaceful environment to ensure the success of the Presidential Election and Legislative Election in Jakarta.
General Agus further underscored the vital role of Indonesian Military personnel in safeguarding the electoral process. He warned that any military member found in violation of the law will be subject to appropriate legal sanctions.
"We adhere to Law Number 34 of 2004, which forbids our involvement in practical politics, as well as Election Law Number 3 of 2017. TNI personnel desiring to participate in practical politics must resign from the TNI. Therefore, if you (military personnel) violate the law, you will be met with legal prosecution or disciplinary measures by the leadership," he explained.
The event witnessed the presence of notable figures, including the Metro Jaya Regional Police Vice Chief Brigadier General Suyudi Ario Seto, high-ranking Army officials, representatives from the 19 parties contesting the 2024 elections, and representatives from community organizations in Jakarta.
